Sleep Apnea Treatment Options

Treatment depends on your diagnosis, severity, anatomy, lifestyle, and individual needs.

Common treatment options include:

CPAP Therapy
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) uses air pressure to help keep the airway open during sleep. CPAP is highly effective when tolerated and used consistently. This kind of treatment is accessible through your primary care provider or sleep physician.
Oral Appliance Therapy
A custom oral appliance is a comfortable, removable device worn during sleep that gently positions the jaw forward to help maintain an open airway.

Oral appliance therapy may be an effective option for:
  • Patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
  • Patients who cannot tolerate CPAP
  • Patients who prefer an alternative treatment option
  • Patients with severe sleep apnea seeking combination therapy with CPAP
Lifestyle and Additional Therapies
Depending on the patient, treatment may also include:
  • Weight management
  • Positional therapy
  • Myofunctional therapy
  • Nasal breathing optimization
